Cars to be taken away from drunk drivers in Italy
In an attempt to combat the very high number of road deaths and injuries Italy is now seizing cars from anyone caught driving after taking alcohol or drugs.
The legislation was recently brought into effect and already two drivers both in their twenties have had their cars confiscated. One of them, a woman had been drinking and the other, a man, had smoked cannabis.
Fines and prison sentences are also to be made harsher along with the right to remove the car from any persons testing positive for drugs or alcohol.
Along with the vehicles already allowed to be seized from Mafia and drug dealers these vehicles will either be used by the police or sent to auction.
