Woman driver is 5 times over the limit
A woman who was found behind the wheel whilst 5 times over the legal limit has been told that she may be given a prison sentence.
Jane Sully, 28, of Swindon was driving her Peugeot to work when she swerved it across the road in what was described as ‘slow motion' and into a ditch.
The breathalyser reading,174 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 ml of breath was the highest ever seen by the local police. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
PC Barry Card commented: "She was as drunk as I have ever seen anyone driving.
"Everyone at the station had a look at the reading. No-one had seen it as high as 174 before."
Ms Sully pleaded guilty to the charge at Swindon Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Richard Williams, who was the defence lawyer, said: "This was an alarmingly high reading. "
