A woman suspected of drink drivind killed a 15 month old baby after she mounted the pavement, dragging him under her car. The woman was believed to be trying to avoid having her car being towed away for no tax and insurance.
Ten passers by fought desperately to lift the Toyota to release the baby from underneath but the weight of the 4 x 4 was too much for them to budge.
Tina Woods the babys mother was on her way to the school to collect her daughter aged 7 when the accident occurred.
The drunk driver had hit several other cars before she finally careered out of control onto the pavement outside the school.
At the school, Selwyn Junior in East London, prayers were this morning said for little Finlay and his family.
The driver of the Toyota is 39 years old and owns a café nearby. She was arrested by Police at the scene and is expected to be charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.
