Youngsters in Derbyshire to be breathalysed

Breath-testing seems to be becoming the in thing as a deterrent to young people drinking under age.

Derbyshire Police are the latest to start breath-testing teenagers to see if they have been drinking or even if they have hidden their alcohol inside soft drink containers.

This has benn under way for the last 2 months and any youngsters found to have been drinking unresponsibly are being taken home to their parents and having the alcohol seized.

The idea is that the Police carry these breath kits around with them all of the time.

This is following on the news that the North Wales Police have already been given the green light to instigate this pilot scheme, there is a similar scheme going on in Holland where young people are warned if they are discovered with alcohol in their systems.
